P.C. Names Six New Partners

9, 2012. The law firm of Garfunkel Wild, P.C. (GW)
is pleased to announce that attorneys Lara Jean Ancona,
John Kraljic, Lauren Levine, Marianne Monroy, Karen
Rodgers, and Afsheen Shah have been named partners of
the firm.
Ms. Ancona, who joined the
firm in 2001, is a member of the Health Care, Health
Care Information and Technology, HIPAA Compliance, and
Insurance Regulatory Practice Groups. Her practice
includes corporate transactions, regulatory analysis,
employment agreements, and service agreements for
hospitals, physicians, managed care companies, insurance
companies and other health industry clients. She has
particular experience in developing clinical trial
agreements and advising organizations on compliance with
federal and state research regulations and Institutional
Review Board requirements. Ms. Ancona received her B.A.
from Union College, her M.S. in Accounting from New York
University Stern School of Business, and her J.D. from
Fordham University School of Law.
Mr. Kraljic, who joined the
firm in 1998, is a member of the Business, Corporate
Reorganization & Bankruptcy, and Health Care Practice
Groups. Mr. Kraljic has extensive experience in
structuring asset and stock acquisition agreements,
license agreements, and employment and retention
agreements. Many of these agreements require the
submission of applications to regulatory agencies. In
addition, he has worked on matters relating to
not-for-profit corporate governance and tax issues for
large and small hospital and health system clients. He
is also particularly adept at interpreting fraud and
abuse laws, rules and regulations. Mr. Kraljic received
his undergraduate degree from Long Island University/C.W.
Post and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Levine, who joined the
firm in 2005, is a member of the Litigation &
Arbitration Practice Group. Ms. Levine represents
clients in a wide variety of commercial and business
disputes through all phases of litigation. Her practice
also focuses on employment law, defending clients
against various types of employment claims, including
age, race, gender, national origin, and harassment, as
well as claims under the Americans With Disabilities
Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, whistleblower laws,
breach of employment contract and defamation. She also
has experience in representing hospitals in medical
staff credentialing and peer review matters. Ms. Levine
received her B.A. from the State University of New York
at Buffalo and her J.D. from Hofstra University School
of Law.
Ms. Monroy, who joined the
firm in 2001, is a member of the Litigation &
Arbitration Practice Group. She represents clients in
federal and state court, arbitrations, appeals, and
proceedings brought before the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of
Human Rights, the New Jersey Civil Rights Commission,
and the New York and New Jersey Departments of Labor.
Ms. Monroy has extensive employment law experience,
defending clients against all types of discrimination
claims, wage and hour, retaliation and whistleblower
suits. She regularly counsels clients regarding human
resources issues and compliance with federal and state
employment laws. Her practice also includes litigation
of a wide variety of commercial and business issues. Ms.
Monroy was recently selected for the Long Island
Business News “40 Under 40 Class of 2012” Award in
recognition of her professional achievements. She
received her B.A. from Brooklyn College and her J.D.
from Pace University School of Law.
Ms. Rodgers, who joined the
firm in 2002, is a member of the Finance and Real Estate
Practice Group. Ms. Rodgers has represented
institutional for profit and not-for-profit clients in
connection with a broad range of commercial real estate
matters. She has significant experience representing
developers, landlords and tenants in the acquisition and
disposition of real property, commercial office and
retail leasing, ground leasing, land use and site
development. She also has significant experience
representing both lenders and borrowers in connection
with all aspects of commercial financing. Ms. Rodgers
received her B.A. from Binghamton University and her
J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
Ms. Shah, who joined the
firm in 2003, is a member of the Corporate
Reorganization & Bankruptcy, Environmental, and Finance
and Real Estate Practice Groups. Ms. Shah’s practice is
focused on the areas of creditor rights, workouts,
business acquisitions and restructurings. She has
represented various businesses, hospitals, landlords and
creditors committees. She received her B.A. from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D.
from Hofstra University School of Law.
