Named One of Long Island’s Top 50 Most Influential Women
in Business By Long Island Business News For Second Time
Great Neck, NY, May 19,
2011. Judith Eisen, Partner/Director at Garfunkel Wild,
P.C. (GW), was today named to Long Island Business News’
Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business for the second
time at a gala awards dinner at the Crest Hollow Country
Club. Ms. Eisen was first named to this highly regarded
list of professional businesswomen on Long Island in
2007. Launched in 2000, the award recognizes the
significant contributions of women professionals
throughout Long Island. Awardees are selected by a panel
of business and community leaders based on the nominee’s
business acumen, mentoring and community involvement.
Currently chair of the
Finance and Real Estate Practice Group and co-chair of
the HIPAA Compliance Practice Group at GW, Eisen is also
a member of the firm’s Health Care, Compliance, White
Collar Defense and Business Groups. Her practice focuses
on the representation of hospitals, nursing homes and
other health care providers, with an emphasis on
regulatory, transactional, compliance, general
corporate, finance, employment, disciplinary, patient
care and other related matters.
Prior to becoming an
attorney, Eisen worked as a registered nurse and was
also involved in nursing education, administration and
risk management which helped her gain a better
appreciation for the many challenges faced by women who
choose to serve in health care. Committed to the welfare
of others, she has represented many charitable
organizations, including facilities for people with
disabilities and mental illness, as well as senior
citizens. A believer in the moral imperative of lawyers
to provide counsel for those unable to pay customary
legal fees, she gives generously of her time.
A former Adjunct Professor
of Health Law at Hofstra University School of Law, Eisen
frequently writes and lectures on regulatory issues. She
has been honored by Women on the Job for her advocacy
efforts with regard to workplace equality, Touro Law
Center as “Public Interest Attorney of the Year” and,
most recently, was featured in New York Super Lawyers.
She holds a JD from Hofstra University School of Law, a
BSN from Columbia University and a BA from Washington
University.
