OIG Scrutinizes Ambulatory Surgery
Center/Anesthesia Arrangements

On May 25, 2012, the Officer
of Inspector General (OIG) of the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services issued an advisory opinion
which found two proposed anesthesia arrangements between
an anesthesia provider (Anesthesia Provider) and
physician-owned Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs)
problematic.
