HIV Law Revised by New York State Legislature |
The HIV law was
substantially revised, effective September 1, 2010, to
increase HIV testing so that people with HIV related
illnesses can be identified and seek treatment and
counseling earlier, and reduce transmission to others.
Among other important changes, the new HIV law revises
informed consent requirements for HIV testing,
facilitates testing in cases of occupational exposure
and requires that HIV tests be offered to every
individual between the ages of thirteen and sixty-four
in all medical settings.
