Recently, new Federal rules
regarding graduate medical education (“GME”)
reimbursement (the “GME Rules”) were published. These
GME Rules (1) change
the requirements to receive reimbursement for time spent by post graduate
trainees (also referred to as “residents”) in
non-hospital settings; (2) allow more flexibility in
calculating full time equivalencies (“FTEs”) in post
graduate training programs; and
(3) provide for redistribution of unused GME slots.
